Good Day Sunrise Community,
We hope you are having a smooth start to the new school year and your family is adjusting well to our new time schedule. We just want to touch base with everyone and let you all know of some information to help make this year exceptional at Sunrise.
A couple of years ago we implemented a "no cupcakes/cakes" policy for birthday celebrations. We will continue with this policy as it helps keep our classroom carpets much cleaner. It also cuts down on many allergens. Parents may provide cookies only, with nutritional information included to help keep our kids with allergies safe. Having a cookie is much more manageable and less distracting than a cupcake or big cake. We ask that families keep their birthday celebrations simple and not bring in gifts, balloons etc.… Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
We will continue to keep fliers from school to a minimum in an effort to try and be eco-friendly. The majority of our communication with all families will be in the form of e-mails, website updates (email@example.com), and outreach communication via Blackboard Connect group phone messages. For these reasons, along with being able to contact you in an emergency, it is important to keep your contact information current at my.cherrycreekschools.org when phone numbers and email address are changed. Please discuss classroom communication methods with your child's teacher.
We strongly believe establishing a good attendance record and being at school on time will have a positive effect on the quality of your child's education. We understand there will be times when illness requires you to keep your child at home. Please call our attendance line at 720-886-2995 before 7:30 am each day your child will be absent for any reason. Early dismissals and late arrivals are of great concern to us because of missed learning opportunities. In addition, chronic late arrival to school and early dismissal sends a message that school is not important, which can correlate to poor student achievement now and in the future. As a child enters the classroom late, or the class is interrupted for an early dismissal, there is a disruption to the learning environment and daily routine. In addition, the classroom interruptions result in unnecessary negative attention for your child. We want the very best for your child by accessing a great education, which we know you desire as well. Please help your child by making sure he/she is on time to school each and every day and dismissing with their classmates at 2:45 pm. Students can arrive as early as 7:50 am. to line up with their classmates. We understand the need for an early dismissal for medical appointments. Please provide a note from the medical provider upon your return to school.
We are looking forward to an amazing school year and know what a privilege it is to have your children with us. The partnership between home and school is an important one and we encourage parents to communicate with teachers. All teachers have district email address which you may ask them for. Please feel free to contact your child's teacher with questions, concerns, or to schedule a time to come in and volunteer.
Our office staff is available to answer any of your questions as well. Our office is available at 720-886-2900.
Thank you for your time,
Yours in Education
