Welcome Our New Principal - Dr. Sarah Famularo

Dear Staff, Students, and Parents,

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter to each of you! I am honored to become a member of the Sunrise Elementary community as your new Principal. During the past week, I have had the opportunity to learn about Sunrise and meet some incredibly talented and dedicated staff and community members. It is evident through these meetings that Sunrise is a school and community dedicated to providing all students "A Safe Place to Learn... Grow... Laugh… Dream... Belong!" I look forward to building relationships with each of you and working with the faculty and community to provide outstanding educational experiences for all of our students.

I am a proud Colorado native! I currently reside in Highlands Ranch with my husband, Josh, and our two beautiful golden retrievers, Roxy and Hurley. In my free time, I enjoy catching up on my reading list, spending time with family and friends, going to the mountains, stand up paddle boarding, and traveling to sunny and warm places!

As an educator, my personal experiences in school have fostered a strong desire and love of learning and a passion for sharing that same desire with teachers and students for many generations to come.  For the last three years, I served as the Assistant Principal at Pine Ridge Elementary where I gained experience as a school leader. Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal, I taught for 12 years at Willow Creek Elementary as a special education teacher.  Through my personal learning and my experiences as an educator, I hold a strong belief that all children deserve the absolute best educational experiences; ones that are authentic to who they are as individuals. I believe in a whole child approach to learning; every child deserves to be healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. I hold a strong value and belief that all of our children need to see themselves within our curriculum, instruction, and school community.

During the course of the year, it is my goal for us to work together to continue to provide all of our students at Sunrise a community of learning that is safe, promotes growth, encourages laughter, cultivates big dreams, and is inclusive of all learners. As your Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please stop in or call to make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this year as successful as possible.

Kind Regards,

Sarah Famularo, Ed.D.
